Greetings:

I need to open an OST file to get the data from it. I see a program
that costs $500.00 that will take an OST and save it as a PST but I can't
believe that there is no Microsoft solution for this.. I exported the data
from an Exchange account but lost a bunch of emails in the process - I'm not
sure how, as the export completed successfully. At any length, I need to
see if the emails are in the OST. The file size would indicate as such so
I'd like to give it a try. Any suggestions are appriciated

Jerry,
MS will not assist any one in breaking the security of their own
software
If your connected to the exchange server you can export your OST to a pst.
When you call MS the do not know if what you tell them is the truth.
How do they know you are not fired and have your OST on your notebook with
confidential information your not supposed to be able to access??

"Bother," said Pooh as he struggled with the computer.

"It never does quite what I want."

"I wish Christopher Robin were here."

I appreciate your eye toward security. I've dealt with Microsoft extensivly
and they know that I am not up to anything. I figured that I'd post before
pestering them.

Hi there!
There is one thing you can try out, though I don't know if this will be
successfull;

1) Make sure you have an working online/offline profile with Outlook
2) Make sure you are working in Offline Mode.
3) Quit Outlook, find your current *.ost file, replace this with your backup
file *.ost (you must use the same as your current *.ost file name!)
4) Then start Outlook.

It might work, because in Offline mode, Outlook should not contact the
Exchange Server to verify the ID of the mailbox/ost file.

If this doesn't work, then I belive you have to get some sort of "*.ost
converter" tool.

Best Regards,
Robert
