Just as an fyi, there seems to be a new version of Oscar's Renamer.
At least, the page mentions v1.1 throughout:
http://www.mediachance.com/free/renamer.htm

But just wanted to let everyone know that although that seems to be
the case, the actual link for download on that page
(http://www.mediachance.com/free/Renamset.exe) seems to download v1.0
only.

I've just emailed the company and hopefully they'll get back to me
soon, but just wanted to let everyone know re new version at this
stagae at least.

As soon as I hear anything from them re where to dl the newer version,
I'll report back.

Cheers! :oD

Hi Fitwell,

AFAIK version 1.1 was released in 2002. :)

download v 1.1 (2002-08-06) (Renamset.exe) (542 KB)
http://www.mediachance.com/free/Renamset.exe

But when you go to install, it even says v1.0 in the title bar of the
installation box (and it's identical in size to v1.0, too, at 542 Kb).
Anyway, I've emailed the company. Hopefully I get an answer of some
kind.

Thanks for the info! :oD

YW. That does seem a bit odd. I got curious and looked up the web page
on the Wayback Machine:

June 2002 - no version mentioned
http://web.archive.org/web/20020603214419/http://www.mediachance.com/free/renamer.htm

Dec. 2002 - "New 1.1 version"

But the official d/l produces v 1.0. Have v 1.1 on disk here, searched
for it and found what seems to be a copy here (same size):
<http://www.sangyun.pe.kr/ez2000/ezboard.cgi?db=pds&action=down&dbf=30&ftype=file&file=Renamset.exe>

All the best,

The size of that file is (554,519 bytes)

On the basis of size:

The version on the PL2004 CD seems to v 1.1 (554,519 bytes)
It was downloaded on 2004-03-12

The version on the author's site now is (554,509 bytes)

I wonder what the difference is. . .

Bjorn, hi!

Anyway you can share that v1.1? Perhaps over at
alt.binaries.freeware?

I've written and written these people and no-one has ever bothered to
respond, never mind fix the problem. I dl this file again from the
website but on trying to install, see that it's the same v1.0! <sigh>
The shell extension feature is supposed to have been fixed in v1.1.
It would be so neat to have it.

Thanks in advance if you can do this. Or anyone else that has v1.1,
pls share if you can.

YEAY!!! It was kinda tough at first finding the link on that page as
it's in some kind of foreign language, I'm guessing Oriental. Can't
tell because my browser switches all the foreign letters to things
like question marks and such <g>. But the renamset.exe file states
v1.1.

My turn. I'd _love_ to share this over at alt.binaries.freeware if
anyone is interested. Or go to the link above. Oscar's is the last
software listed. I clicked on the little icon to the left of the
name. That took me to a popup window of what looks like another
message and then I clicked on the link Renamset.exe (541KB). On
installing, it says v1.1 and then in testing, it is the right version.
And in my Win98SE, the shell extension now does work, just like the
website says! Yeay, one less fiddle after a wipe/reinstall.

Kewl! :oD
