I am trying to install win xp on fathers p.c. from dos.
It say's it can't be run from dos. What do I do now?

Check the BIOS on the PC (see your PC manuals for this)
Enable it to boot from the CD ROM
and Reboot the machine with the CD ROM in the drive
Watch he onscreen prompts to press any key to boot from CD
and install the OS.

Greetings --

Simply boot from the WinXP Installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot
devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)

You can install from DOS as follows (assuming D: is CDROM):
a) Change to D:
b) Change to i386 folder (cd i386)
c) Run Winnt.exe to start installation
