OS Snapshots

I am looking for some software that will allow me to take snapshots of the
OS and manage those snapshots. What I would like is something that works
like the snapshot manager in VMWare. This would enable a testbed machine to
be maintained with various configurations and setups of the OS for testing
application configurations. I had hoped to use system restore but once one
restores the state I don't think it is possible to go forward to a later
state.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated,

Acronis True Image Echo.

Yeah, I have the older Workstation version, but Echo is the new name. He
will also need to Universal Restore add-on if he wants to use the images on
other computers with different hardware, or virtual machines.

If you have Vista Ultimate, you could use the Backup tool. I believe the
..vhd files that this creates can be imported into VMware Workstation and
VMware Player. They also have some sort of Converter product available.

???? Workstation is around $70 and Acronis True Image Home is around $30
from NewEgg.

I guess I misread the web site, what I saw was True Image Echo (as
recommended) for $999.
I will look at the other products,

Ah, you were looking at the server version. While the server version is the
same program, it is needed to work on Windows Server 2003/2008, which is a
massive problem for me!
