I recently installed Windows 2000 Professional on a
machine that had Windows XP. Even though I completely
formatted the drive during setup, remnants of Windows XP
are still on the machine giving me a screen to choose
which OS I want to boot to when I start the machine. I
have reformatted the hard drive at least 4 times and
reinstalled Windows 2000 but this has not solved the
problem. I was thinking of deleting the partition and
recreating it then continuing with the installation to see
if that works.

Can someone please tell me in detail how I can rectify
this situation? Any suggestions will be greatly
appreciated.

I had the same problem, I Tried the Partition delete and
reformat, and that didnt work, then i tried the boot.ini,
except there was no line in the boot.ini that had Windows
XP, only The win2000 was in there. so then i just did a
LLF and that worked

Removing the line from boot.ini would though

Only reply by newsgroup. If I see an email I didn't ask for, it will be
deleted without reading.

Deleteing the partition will resolve the issue.
