Orphaned Personal Folder, can not remove

I have a Personal Folder in my Outlook XP, that can not locate its folder and
I can not remove it or disconnect from it. It does not show up in my list of
data files, but does show up as a folder I can set as a default PST.

I have already tried uninstalling Outlook and reinstalling it, but it was
still there.

How can I get rid of this?

Do I need to run some sort of registry cleaner after uninstalling Outlook,
before I reinstall it?

My new laptop came with a trial version of Office 2003, but I already have
2002 and did not want to upgrade at this time. I uninstalled the 2003
version and installed my XP version. I thknk there was a PST left over from
2003 or at least a pointer to the location of the 2003 copy. When I
installed XP, it may have pointed to the 2003 copy.

Thanks for your help.

The easiest way to fix the issue of "ghost" .PST files is to create a new
mail profile from scratch. You can do this via Control Panel | Mail | Show
Profiles.

Thanks for the response. I actually figured that out earlier today after I
posted my query. I didn't have a chance to add this comment until now. You
can do the same thing by right clicking on the Outloook Icon that appears on
the desktop. There is an option under properties that allows you to show
profiles. I created a new one and deleted the old one.
