Well i tried all the suggestions, still the same
failure...i tried a few other things then got fed up and
installed Office XP - then service packed it to the latest
version.

Now the Powerpoint problem has gone away, Hurray!

However...

The same user wishes to open a access mde file - guess
what? Access XP cannot convert the mde file!! AGGH!! £$%
^&*(&^%$£$%^&!!!!! (Which of course works fine under
Access 97)

I know this is a powerpoint forum, but does anyone have
any fab ideas?

I can't find exactly your error in the MSKB, and I'm not familiar enough
with Access to offer any real advice. You might want to ask about this
