organizing music on windows xp

I have recently added a second music program to my computer and am now having
a hard time with music files being all over my computer and having duplicate
songs taking up too much sapce on my memory... any advice on the most simple
way to organize all my music into one location and elimiate duplicate songs?

I don't know
* what programs you're referring to;
* if you *truly* have 2 copies of everything
* where you've put the files
* what format they're in
