Some of my Favorites folders are organized alphabetically, and others are
not. Is there a way to alphabetize? Can this be done automatically when new
links are added?

Thank you,
Teach

I am trying to alphabetize favorites as well. I am using IE 6.0 and when I
right click in the favorites menu I do not get the option to "sort by name" I
get delete and rename in the menu. any ideas?

Hi Teach :-)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Alphabetize My Favorites

Click on the Favorites on the *menu* bar and when a Favorite flies out,
right click on it and select "Sort by name." Do not use the Favorites on
the Toolbar, with the star or in the Favorites side panel, it will not work.
You may also do it from Start>Favorites

or…..

also....

FWIW....I use this.....makes dealing with Favorites much simpler :-)

FavOrg: To set Favicons (subscription required)

IThis allows you to save them permanently in a different folder and
re-associate your favorites with the stored icons. It also verifies whether
your links in Favorites are stll good.

Hope this helps.

Are you using Favorites on the menu bar,, NOT the Favorites icon?

Open Favorites from the menu item, not the toolbar icon. Then right click
any of them and choose Sort by Name.

If you want them to automatically alpha-sort even as new entries are added,
you need a registry edit. Navigate to:

HKEY CURRENT USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Menu
Order\Favorites

and delete the value named 'Order'. Also delete this value for any
subfolders. Then, with the favorite key highlited, click on Edit >
Permissions and deny 'Full Access' to Administrators, yourself, etc. This
will prevent the key from being automatically recreated.

Please try again as you must be using the wrong place to right click.
Use the menu option Favorites and when a favorite flies out,
rightclick on it and select "Sort by name"
Don't use the Favorites panel. It must be the menu option or you may
also do it from Start-Favorites

Hi Frank, do you have any idea how to stop the Links toolbar from being
alphabetized? I see lots of postings on how to make them go into alpha order
but not much on how to NOT make them in Alpha order. It is driving me crazy.
I see the mention about having more than 193 of them but I never have had
that many before and all of a sudden they went into Alpha order and I dont
want them to be. I want to choose the order they appear in

Thanks a lot in advance

Eric

I don't know, I've never had that problem.
