Organizing Contact Files in Outlook 2003

I just installed Outlook 2003 and imported my outlook.pst file from Outlook
2000. When I view my Contacts tab I have a "Contacts" folder and the
contacts from my outlook 2000. All of my contacts are in the 2000 folder.
When I go to send an email I can pull the "to" from my 2000 contacts. But,
when I go to save a contact or add a new contact it puts in in the "contacts"
2003 file. How do I get 2003 to save new contacts into this other contacts
file?

Now you see why importing is not recommended.
Why don't you just move the contents from the 2000 folder into your default
folder?

I have copied them over and deleted the contents on the "old" contacts file.
How do I delete it completely? I can't figure that one out.

For some reason when I create a new email message and click on the To button
it wants to pull contacts from the old contact file, not the new one. It
seems backwards.

So, can you tell me how to delete the old contact file and tell Outlook to
look in the new Contacts file?

Make sense? It seems backwards from what it should be.

Just point the Outlook Address Book Service to the correct Contacts Folder:
Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or address
books > Outlook Address Book > Change. >

Are you saying you cannot simply delete the Contacts Folder you imported?
What happens when you try?

I really appreciate your help.

When I follow the steps listed to change the directory there is only one
listing there. However, when I go to contacts there are two listings as
described earlier.

I don't really know how to delete that other one. I can delete the contacts
of my old contact folder from within the contacts screen, but I can delete
the "file" that it's in. I try right clicking on it, but that delete option
is not there. Also my new email screen when I click on the To is pulling
contacts from the old one, but when I save a new contact it goes to the new
one, and I have to manually move it to the old one so that the new email
screen in the To can see it.

Thanks again.

The only folders you cannot delete are the default folders, and you can only
have one default folder. Just move your Contacts to the default folder and
delete the other.
If you somehow ended up with 2 default folders, then you have a corrupt
profile (from importing) and will have to create a new one.
