Is there any way to put the sort the favorites list?

never mind, I found it. Since I wanted to sort the whole thing I did not
think to try sorting an individual folder to sort the whole list

Here is another good way to organize and sort your Favorites.
FavOrg: To set Favicons - Free
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Bookmark-Managers/favorg.shtml
This allows you to save them permanently in a different folder and
re-associate your favorites with the stored icons. It also verifies whether
your links in Favorites are stll good.

Go to IE, select your favorites list from the menu, while it is displayed,
right-click and choose 'Sort by Name'
right-click and choose 'Sort by Name'
