Organize Favorites Error

My Favorites are viewable along the left side of my browser, but when I click
"Organize", the pane that would normally list the favorites has a small red X
in the upper left corner. If I click any of the buttons ie Rename, Create
Move etc, I receive an error message
"An error has occured in this dialog.

Error: 306
Object doesn't support this property or method"

Now the error numbers changes to 323 or 311 but the rest of the error
message itself always comes up.

I am at my wits end as to a solution. Any ideas anyone?
