Organising photos

I want to fill in the file summary information in the properties section of
my photo files so that I can search for pictures by person or subject etc.
Is there any way I can select a range of photos of eg the same person and
insert their name into all the files at once, instead of having to do it for
each individual file?
 
Not with XP alone.
You can do this with Microsoft Digital Image Suite 10 or Adobe Photoshop
Elements 3.
The cost is about $100.00
This is quite high to do what you described.
However both are top notch photo editing and photo organizer software if you
do not have such already.

Try the following if the files are in the .jpg format.

Select all the files you wish to edit and right click
the highlighted group.

From the menu...choose...Properties / Summary
tab / Advanced button...

Add info to any of the following fields by simply
selecting the field and begin typing.

Title
Subject
Keywords
Comments
Author

When you are finished click the OK button. All
selected files will be updated.
