Is there a way to make all the subordinates align directly under the
supervisor without a left or right hanging format?

Shane,
This is PPT 2003 ?
You can do this if you turn autoformat off, in the Organization Chart
toolbar click on the layout tab, at the bottom choose Autoformat. Now you
should be able to edit the chart, select boxes/connector lines and
move/adjust them. Maybe start with the connector lines, then move the boxes.
But it will take a lot of work and is fiddly at the best.
Better would be to draw the org chart yourself using rectangle boxes and
using connector lines which you can find in the drawing toolbar, AutoShapes
connector lines. If will give you much more flexibility and formatting
power.

Luc, just wanted you to know I was recently upgraded to PPT 2003 and have
been spending lots of time adjusting those lines that get flung all over the
place. I figured I was doing something wrong but I wasn't sure what. PPT
2000 pretty much set it up how I wanted with nice straight lines but it
always seemed limited to smaller org charts.

Your suggestion to draw the boxes and use connecting lines is something of
which I was not aware. I just gave it a test run and it is going to save me
tons of time.

Thank you so much.
