Hello,

I purchased a new computer that came with Vista Home Premium pre-installed.
I purchased the Any Time Upgrade for Vista Ultimate. MS had to mail me the
Any Time Disc, which is taking a long time coming. I haven't installed any
software, including my anti virus, thinking it would be best to do the system
upgrade first. Is this correct, or can I just go ahead and load the other
software (Office 2007, QuickBooks 2008) and Trend Micro Internet Security?

I would err on the side of caution and wait until the upgrade was installed
and your system was up and running under Vista Ultimate. What is your
reason for wanting to go to Vista Ultimate and why didn't you just order the
new system with it already installed? I'm just asking.

Thanks, I'll wait until the disc gets here.

I wanted to upgrade to Vista Business because I work at home through the
remote desktop and understood that the business program was better for that
application. The computers I could find that had Vista Business on them were
far more expensive than upgrading the program.

I take a look at Avast. I was trying to find a reliable alternative to Norton.

Thanks,

Dorothy, I use Avast for vista and XP; have done for a few years.
I also install it on customers single home computers as it is free for
single user use for them.
It is low on resources; and you use vista'a firewall, which does nor cause a
conflict of interest with other programs being installed, or used, like
norton, etc do.

Any probs, post back here sometime.
