Is there any way I could have a test version of Oracle to prepare myself for
a job later without having to buy Oracle?

Hi Rodger

I haven't looked recently, but it has been my understanding that you can
download Oracle for development purposes from the Oracle web site. I have
downloaded Oracle 8 and 9i in the past. As far as I know Oracle get revenue
from the end users.

Just download a copy from Oracle. During installation select "Personal
Edition". It is all completely legal to develop home use/evaluation etc as
long as you are not part of the Bush/Rumsfeld Axis of Evil :)

Here is a snippet from Oracle's website you must agree to prior to
downloading.

I am not a citizen, national or resident of, and am not under the control
of, the government of: Cuba, Iran, Sudan, Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Syria,
nor any other country to which the United States has prohibited export.

There is a relationship with Oracle and the VB .NET language. There are 200
references to Oracle in the help text for Visual basic.
For anyone wanting to use VB.NET web forms, the 2 most likely alternatives
for databases are MS SQL and ORACLE.

The answer to the question is still in no way related to the Visual
Basic .NET programming language.
