Optimizing animated GIFs in PPT2003

Is there a way to get better performance from an animated GIF in one of my PPT slides. The motion is much slower and choppier in the slideshow than it is when viewed outside of PPT. (In a browser, for example.

When using PPT XP-2003 be sure to go to SLIDE SHOW >> SET UP SHOW >> check
USE HARDWARE GRAPHICS ACCELERATION. This can have a big impact on
animations, inserted animated .gif's, etc.
