what does this means in Frontpage 2003? is this a new feature?
I have a website that I am trying to optimize the diet for submission.
Is this automatic opt htlm for websites?

Thanks!
Jarrieta

It allows removal of certain code from your site as you publish,
But it also can make your remote site unopenable in FP
(read each option carefully and make sure you have a backup before using it)

The Optimise HTML function basically removes unnecessary code from the HTML.
The code removed can be comments, leading spaces (used to indent tags and
make the code more readable for editing) and the bloat inserted into web
pages by Word.

Great care is required when optimising. Removing all comments, for example,
makes a published web site useless for backup purposes (in case your local
copy goes pear shaped) since it will also remove the comments defining
webbots (include files and the like). Also removing all whitespace can make
the page unusable in some browsers. NN4 cannot cope with line lengths
greater than about 4000 characters - removing all whitespace removes all the
carriage returns from the HTML code, making one very long line of code.

In my opinion, the safest optimisation that should be done is:
Remove leading whitespace
Remove Generated HTML - Generator and Prog Id Tags
Remove Generated HTML - Word HTML

Removing anything else could damage the site, or impair its use as a backup.

DIV is Not just for positioning
They are a container and don't conflict w/ any table tags, If they are used correctly
See http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/struct/global.html#edef-DIV

| Aren't div for positioning? I read they conflict with some other table tags.
