Shareware & trialware needs to come in a small package so that customers on
dialup can access these products as well. In practice, limiting maximum
download size is highly desirable with the client base quartering every time
the download size is doubled.
Where package size is too big, it becomes more expensive to pay for trial
download bandwidth than what you recover in sales. For example, typical
conversions in the region of 1% see 2Gb of bandwidth consumed for every sale
of a 20Mb package - with many quality hosting providers, this amounts to
costs equivalent to or exceeding the purchase price of the product.
What I need to know is what if any, are the business advantages of VS2005?
Why should my accountant recommend upgrading from VB6? Most importantly, I
need to know if & how VS2005 optimises package size for downloadable
shareware and trialware applications....?
Thanks in Advance...
