Hi
I'm looking for a recommendation of a wireless optical mouse, and what makes
the difference between a £30 Microsoft one and an uknown (to me) £15 mouse.
A recharging station would be nice too.
TIA

I would recommend the Logitech MX700. It has the highest resolution
going and is 'As smooth as silk' in operation. A little bit more than
£30 (around £45 maybe a little lower now) but IMHO worth every penny.

Logitech MX 700.

Quality? I will say, Microsoft mice are very well made and don't exhibit
the cheapness of lower-cost nice. I had a BTC mouse a year ago and the
buttons felt like they would press right through the thing.

I like the MS mice as they are a little larger than the Logitech mice and
fill the palm of your hand better - in my opinion.

I have used an MS cordless optical mouse for some months. Really like it,
but the bloody thing eats AA batteries (2/week). Haven't yet found a good
workable alternative. Any suggestions?

Just about, as long as the surface is not too reflective. It also feels=
20
solidly built unlike my MS optical on my laptop which always feels like=
20
it is going to fall apart :)
I had the previous Logitech version prior to this one which I thought=20
was pretty good, but after nearly a year of almost daily use, the MX700=
20
beats it in every department.

I used rechargeable batteries on my last cordless mouse (1500 or
1600Ah). They would last about a week so I had 2 in the mouse and two on
charge. I paid around £10 for 4 at Dixons. If you get a charger unit, it
is advisable to get one with a discharge facility so you can drain the
batteries from time to time and prolong the life of the batteries.

Very good point. I experienced the same thing. That's why I switched to
the corded version. That, and the mouse was too heavy for the hand. I want
a mouse that was easy to move. What about some sort of Nicad setup? Just
re-charge them when they're done and hopefully Nicads will last a little
longer.

S'pose I've grown used to the size of the mouse and now find it very
comfortable and easy to use. Just the battery consumption bothers me. Have
tried nicads and nimh - wretched thing won't work with them.
My better half uses a corded ms optical rodent on her pc, and that is a
delight to use. Just wish it didn't have a cord. My desk is such a mess I'd
never find the thing again!

The MX700 comes with two AA NiMH batteries, and its receiver doubles for
a charging cradle. Just place the mouse in the cradle while you sleep.

NiCD batteries are old technology and are quite environmentally unfriendly.

even though I have a MS mouse and I am happy with it get a logitech since it
has more features I would've got a logitech but it's to expensive for me

I have used A4Tech mice for some years. Particularly like the corded
optical 5 button 2 scroll wheel mouse but they do a cordless version too.
Good prices at Redstore.com. I paid about £12 ex p& P.
