Optical mouse causes screen freeze?

Hi all:

Is it possible for a USB optical mouse to cause the screen to freeze for
a sec or two, like you move the mouse when playing games but the image
isn't moving?

The pointer of my mouse seems to be not willing to go and stay where I
point sometimes. Example: I move the pointer to an icon and that little
arrow likes to "dance" around it a tiny bit before it settles down. Is
that a problem of my optical mouse? And sometimes the pointer would jump
to another place. Bad Logitech MX300 mouse I have?

Thanks!

I would say that it is more probable that you don't have enough ram,
or you have something running in the background that is bogging
down the pc.

Make sure you've got the mouse plugged into your PS/2 port and not the
USB. It should have come with an adapter.
