How responsive are optical mice when it comes to playing games? I have several
old arcade style games on my computer in which the mouse is used as a
trackball. Some of the games have a built in inertia effect so that if you
give the mouse a quick shove in one direction the object on the screen will
actually keep moving for a second or two after you've stopped moving the mouse,
just like a real trackball.

Thanks

Ok?

Optical mice are very responsive, providing a decent surface
under them and IF it's wireless, then a newer wireless model
like a Logitech MX series.

Yeah the MX700 kicks arse, have one, but not sure how it competes to
the corded MX510 ?, thats got better sampling or somthing.

Anyway i can play just fin online and am up in the top scores with
kills, in no time.

Once I left regular mechanical-action mice and trackballs and moved up
to an optical mouse, I've never looked back. I wouldn't use anything
else!

Depends on the specific mouse, but mostly they're very responsive.
Perhaps overly so. If you stop moving the mouse, it stops
immediately. The biggest thing to get used to is that when you pick
up a ball mouse, you stop. When you pick up an optical, the sensor
can sometimes still pick up movement. Low end opticals from MS &
Logitech have this problem. Their high and mid range ones seem to
compensate and behave more like ball mice.

MX700 stopes on a Microscopic dime :)

Got the Mx1000 if the MX700 is not get enough, its a LASER mouse:0

I bought the 510. Great mouse. Kinda pricey at 49.99 but for me it's not an
issuse because It's got 8 programmable buttons that are perfect for a one-armed
gamer.
