Optical drives issue

I'm running XP HE SP2 on an Athlon XP 2400+, 1GB RAM computer.

I have a DVD-RW drive and a CD-RW drive. Since I installed the DVD drive as
a replacement for a dead DVD-ROM, the CD drive no longer records or
recognises blank discs, although it will still 'see' and play audio discs. I
am sure that the jumpers on both devices are set correctly.

When I check the properties on both drives, "enable CD recording" can only
be checked on one device at a time - is this correct, or should they both be
capable of being checked simultaneously? The main reason I ask is because
I'm trying to diagnose whether or not the CD-RW drive could be faulty.

Thank you for any assistance.
Regards,
Sam

Only one at a time can be recordable (for Windows). In 3rd party software
you can choose with which recorder you want to record...
