Hi All,

I have just built a new system with one DVD burner and one PATA HDD which I
have partitioned using Win XP setup CD prior to loading the system into 2
partitions. The HDD is primary master and the optical drive on my secondary
IDE controler. As far as I know regardles of the config the non HDD should
get its letter after all HDD partitions (including logical).
My active partition is C as expected, optical drive has got D and my second
logical partition letter E.
Anyone knows what could be the reason?
Thanks

Run diskmgmt.msc (via Start / Run) do set the driver
letters you prefer.

You may need to disable one or the other in device mgr 1st,you might also
need to disable the 2nd partition from having a page file on it,you will
need to,
(once the new letter is asigned to optical drive)open regedit,expand:HKEY_
LOCAL_MACHINE,software,microsoft,windows,set up,then open source path.
You'll see youre dvd still has old letter,L.click on it,go to
edit,modify,set as it
is in my computer,close out,thiers 2 settings to change,once done,close out
regedit.
