i had some problems with my computer and decided to wipe the thing clean and start again. i used the restore cd and set it up like it says. then loaded my virus program and downloaded all the updates from microsoft... a very timeconsuming project!! then when i try to load a game it will load part way then a black screen appears and at the top of the page it says that my operating system was not found. if i press control-alt-delete it just comes back to the same screen. if i turn off the computer it will start up as normal, but the game is missing. also when i try to access certain programs it will go back to the black screen with operating system not found. any ideas?? i thought the restore cd fixed everything...

any help is greatly appreciated.

The restore CD restores the computer back to the way it left the factory.
All upgrades will have to be reloaded (as you found out) and all software
that you installed after receiving the computer will have to be reloaded.
The restore CD can't restore anything you have added/installed/changed.

Once I saw that screen a couple of times - just before my hard drive
completely croaked. Is your hard drive physically ok? No wierd sounds
coming from it? Maybe you could try running check disk. That should tell
you if there are any bad sectors on the drive.

.
Check your BIOS to see if the hard drive is listed there,
and check the IDE drive cable connections to be fully
pushed in. And here;
