Hi,

ever since I did a recent windows update all links that open in ie crash.
here are a few scenarios:

1. I click a hyperlink in a webpage that opens in a blank window: Multiple
blank windows will open up (sometime up to 19) and crash ie.

2. I click Start>Windows update: ie launches a blank window, Then launches
another with the windows update in it.

Sometime the windows update doesn't even appear so I then tried setting my
default browser to firefox here's what happpened:

1. Start>windows update: This launches a blank ie window then lauches a
firefox window that won't display the windows update obviously.

So here's how I know that the problem is with windows update:

1. Reinstalled XP from the cd.

2. Everything is fine.

3. Windows Update (34 all together)

4. the problem is back.

No I tried doing 1 update at a time but it's ridiculous. Then I think the
cumulitive patch installed all the "security updates" and thats when the
problem occured.

PLEASE HELP, THANKS.

Thanks!

Hi,
Did you run IE7(Beta) alongside IE6 recently? If so, see
http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2005/12/16/504864.aspx

Were he reinstalls of XP clean installs?

Hope this helps,
