OpenOffice vs EasyOffice and more

First of all, which in your opinion is the best and why?

Secondly...
Just like both suites open and save MS doc & xls file,
does EasyOffice work with Outlook pst files, or do I have to import all
the info from there (pst) because EasyOffice saves mails and contacts
differently (other format).
I found this a hassle because I have a Nokia 6610 cellphone and Nokia PC
Suite only syncronizes with MS Outlook or Express and Lotus Organizer or
Notes.
I'm forced to use Outlook due to Nokia Pc Suite reads/writes to the pst
file. Importing from pst to y format and then reimport back to pst to
have my cellphone syncronized it's unacceptable.
Does anyone know a way to solve this? Either another mail client/Pim or
sync program?

I never understood these suites "100% MS Office compatible" tags.
Doesn't Outlook belong to MS Office?
This is the main reason I haven't switched to one of these suites yet.

TIA

First of all, I've only used Easy Office, not Open Office. Easy office
seemed to want to integrate itself into everything. I really just wanted the
word processor but got about 17 programs with the install. I asked on acf
about it and someone said it's not a good product. I really didn't need it
that much as I have a replacement notepad (Edit Pad Lite), Atlantis, Word
2000, but mainly wanted to try it out. I finally uninstalled it. I have also
tried a product called 602 or 602lite or something which is a freeware
office suite. I was using mainly the photo album portion of it (like Easy
Office, it installs about 4 other apps), but the 602lite photo app was a bit
flaky so I also uninstalled it. That's my experience with Office suites
which are freeware.
YMMV ;)

OpenOffice, but only just barely

Nothing I know other than MSoffice works with PST files. You have to
export to CSV to get it out of that format.

, or do I have to import
Only by using Outlook Express, sadly :-(

Selecting a "Custom" install on any of these would have eliminated this
problem. You could have selected the componants you wished. 602 Office
Suite uses a photo album instead of a presenter. The ablum software has
problems.

EasyOffice does have a tendancy to strew itself all over the registry,
which is a pain. I wrote EasyOffice support about it (got a reply from
the company CEO! How many time do you know Bill Gates to respond to
support questions?) His response, that's the way they designed it. I
finally used ToniArts Easycleaner would remove it all.

I have had problems converting using EasyOffice, and also AbiWord.
OpenOffice will read any office file I throw at it (although sometimes
it takes a little reformatting).

Easyoffice does have a database designer, a contact manager with history
(the ONLY free one you will find) 2 different word processors, "Read
that back to me" support. All really nice features.

I stay with Openoffice becasue it allows me to do things MS office
can't. OpenOffice has NEVER crashed, NEVER lost or corrupted a file on me.

Conclusion: OpenOffice is more do-it-yourself. EasyOffice is more "look
at these cool tools". Your choice. Both are better than Bates-ware.

fade, one thing I do like with easy office is that you can make pdf
files within the program.

I thought you were supposed to be able to do that with OO as well, although
I haven't tried it.

Yes, you can export to pdf with OO as well.
And that's a nice feature that MS Office doesn't have.
