automatically download any of 87 spelling, hyphenation, and thesaurus
dictionaries, and enhanced support for languages that use a comma instead
of a point/full stop as the decimal point.

I'm waiting for them to incorporate the equivalent of WordPerfect's
"Reveal Codes". If they can pull that off, they'll nuke MS Word into
the stone age.

Ctrl-F10 in Ooo?

It is too long ago that I used WordPerfect, but I believe this is
similar to "Reveal Codes", or do you talk about the second window on
the bottom of WP?

best regards

That's it all right (the second window at the bottom of WP). Word and
OO will both show only some of the formatting codes like tabs, hard
returns and the like while WP's reveal codes feature shows
*everything* so that you don't wonder why you can't stop bolding text
for instance. I.e. it allows for *very* precise formating.
Due to the way OO.o and Word place the formating codes at the top
of a document (from what I hear) though, implementing a "reveal codes"
like feature in OO.o may be nearly infeasible.

Here is what the OO.o website says about this issue:
