Not sure if this is the correct newsgroup to put this but here it goes.

I have a couple of applications that use 'OpenNETCF.IO.Serial" comm
port to send and receive data via IR. And the apps. work fine on 5 of
the 6 models of pocket pc. And I can't seem to figure it out. All I
see out the IR port is 3 or 4 '0xFF'. I did verify the 'receive beams'
is not checked.

PPC Models:
Brand Model OS
HP iPAQ 1945 Pocket PC 2002
Dell Axim x50 MS Windows Mobile 2003
Symbol SPT8800 MS Windows Mobile 2003
Dell Axim x51 MS Windows Mobile 5.0
Dell Axim x51v MS Windows Mobile 5.0
HP iPAQ 2490 MS Windows Mobile 5.0

The only one that doesn't work is the HP iPAQ 2490.

Can anyone tell me why/how this model is different?
Explain why the same code to open, use, and close the port is working
on some but not all models?
Does anyone know if the iPAQ 2490 has different hardware that isn't
supported?

Thanks in advance.
Jason

Have you seen HP's website? All models specifications are there. Maybe,
as this model brings Windows Mobile 5.0, they have changed something
related to infrarred communication. They shouldn't but HP does this
kind of hellish things. Remember HP continuing with Widcomm Bluetooth
Stack.......while the majority of PDA vendors were implementing MS
Bluetooth Stack (trying to make it a standar).

Regards.

Yes I didn't see anything.

I did get a new HP model and it works fine.

Could be a hardware issue.

Any ideas let me know,

I am tryng to figure out how to send and receive on the IR port - how do you
determine the COM port used for IR? I am using a dell axim X50.
Are you using RAW IR?
