opening wps files

I have a wps file on my desktop that I copied from an email. If I double
click it I get an error message, not a valid win32 application,. I f I open
Word 2007 and then open the file, it opens fine. Should I be able to open the
file without opening word first? this alos affects opening attachments in
email.

This question does not appear to have anything to do with the database
software Microsoft Access, the subject of this newsgroup. I'd suggest that you
use Windows Explorer, Tools... Folder Options... File Types, select .wps, and
specify Word as the application for this file type.
