Opening word docs in My Documents

We have Office 2000 and when we try to open a directory in
My Documents (from the desktop), that holds word
documents, it just comes up with the egg timer and thens
stops.

Any ideas what's causing this and how to fix it please?

You really need to be asking this question in a Windows
newsgroup. And do be sure it's clear which version of Windows
you're using when you ask.
