When I attempt to open a MS WORD document from a document
saved on a CD I get this message: "The document name or
path is not valid" please help me to correct this problem.
I am frantic as I need the document urgently.
Thanking you in advance,
Kindest regards Ben Gouws

Have you copied the file from the CD to your hard drive and removed the file
attribute 'Read Only'?

Hi Graham
Thank you for responding.
I have tried to copy the file to my hard drive and
received this message: "Cannot read from the source file
or disc"

The disc is then corrupt or you don't have the software on your PC to read
it.

Can you see the file in Windows Explorer?

How did you record the disc?

Did you record it as an ISO data disc with Nero or EZCD etc., or did you use
one of those dreadful packet applications like InCD or Direct CD, which are
almost guaranteed to lose your work. If the latter, you'll need the original
application or a UDF reader on the PC to read the disc. If the former you
are in deep trouble. Do you know anyone else with a PC who can try and open
and copy the file and e-mail it to you?

See if the demo of CDR Diagnostic will help -
http://www.cdrom-prod.com/software.html - this is arguably the best CD file
recovery software around.
