Since the installation of service pack two, sites that I used to be able to
click on a link, either text or thumbnail image, which opens the information
in a new window will not work. The new window will flash up temporarily, and
then disappear or close on it's own. I have tried all the internet oprions
settings with no luck.

Hi,
It sounds like a pop-up blocker is closing these windows. You can change
settings of the IE pop-up blocker from IE> Tools> pop-up blocker.

You may also have a third-party pop-up blocker running such as Google
toolbar, Yahoo companion, Earthlink pop-up blocker, etc. You'll have to look
through these programs to see which one is blocking new windows.

Thank you. I had an IE6 pop-up blocker and third party blockers of google
toolbar and Freedom (my ISP firewall, antivirus package) and also Ad-Aware.
It was the setting in Ad-Aware (block pop-ups agressively) that was my problem
