I am using Vuescan 8.0.5 and when it tries to open the tiff file in
photoshop it says "Unable to complete your request because it is not the
right kind of document" however I can open the tiff file in PS with no
problem. Does anyone else get this?

Probably just continuation of a long-time oddity with VS and PS.
I don't get that error, but if setting VS to open scans in PS (7), the
first image always comes up blank, as a new image.

Leaving PS open and continuing scanning, all subsequent images
DO open in PS.

I generally don't use this workflow, so hasn't been a prob.
Just try opening the first image in PS, then see if subsequent scans
don't open in it okay.

Well leaving PS open does not solve the problem as every scan says the same
thing whether or not it starts PS or just uses an open instance!

Ed - do you have a comment?

This seems to be a problem of PS and not of VueScan, since it appears
with other files, too. Sometimes PS refuses to open a document from the
'Open recent' list but does without problem with drag and drop...

Then it's obviously a different problem..
Sorry for muddying the waters.

Funny that there are ZERO reports of that to Adobe technical support.

Most likely, this is just another VueScan bug (and he'll eventually get
it fixed).

I didn't find it worth the effort to report it, but next time it
happens I'll do :-)

I assume Ed uses libtiff (as other programs do, too). libtiff claims to
implement the standard, which is maintained by Adobe (if I remember
correctly)...
