I installed XP about four months ago. This weekend the
system was running normally when I went away to make a
drink, on my return 5 minutes, the screen had gone blank.
I tried ctrl-alt-del, nothing. Eventually I had to switch
the system off as there was nothing. Rebooted and an
error message appears saying there is no 'hard disc'
installed. I check all connections but nothing. I changed
the hard disc for another and this worked. Added the
first one back in and failure. It asks for a boot disc to
be installed. Have both HDD' in and failure. With the new
disc no problem.
Can anyone help please.
Thanks

It sounds as though the old disk has failed. If you could boot with it
connected, you might be able to run the hard drive manufacturer's diagnostic
tools to find out for sure but based on the information given, it sounds as
the hard drive has failed, that's a hardware problem and the only fix is to
do what you have done, replace it.

How I can use this site?
I have problem with XP Home Edition, at star up I am getting this message
``Invalid Bacweb application ID 1940576`` Does anybody know how to eliminate
this.
Thanks,
Geo

As far as I know, that is caused by a virus. You need to use your antivirus
software to resolve it. Try booting into safe mode, boot the system, start
tapping F8 and once in Safe Mode, run your antivirus, if possible, make sure
it is up to date first.

Also, try running Ad Aware as that might find the application that deposited
this on your system:
