opening/sharing contacts

I know that in Outlook ’07, I have the options of opening up someone else’s
contact folder (default or newly created folder), but I am stumped as to how
I can share a folder between several people, and have that folder serve as
the one which then syncs with all of our handhelds via Activesync.

In other words, I want to have everyone have their default folder be one
large shared folder, in which we can each add our own contacts (and be the
only ones that are allowed to delete our own created contacts), as well as
edit others’ contacts. So if I create A contact, and my colleague creates B
contact, I want both of us to be able to edit each one, but only I should be
able to delete A, and he to delete B. And then the shared folder in which
both of these reside, I want to act as my default contact folder for purposes
of synching through Activesync.

So are you planning on using Exchange Server or not? If not, where do you
think you have the option for opening someone else's Contact Folder?

I don't believe this is possible. ActiveSync will sync only with each
person's delivery location folders.
 
I am using Exchange, yes. If so, is there a solution?

is there a way to get a public folder to help in this problem? If we set up
a shared public folder, can I make that folder become the default delivery
location for each person, and thereby have Activesync basically sync with
that? Or is there a way to mirror in the default folder everything that
happens in a favorites public folder, which will then give offline
functionality for the public folder, which syncs up with the default folder,
which then syncs up with Activesync? Just trying to figure out some
workarounds.
 
Then I would ask in an Exchange group.

Not with ActiveSync. You can buy thrid-party sync tools that will allow
synching with multiple calendars, but your Windows Mobile device can't
really handle multiple calendars. The sync tool adds extra entries with
special characters in the names and categories in the entries to simulate
multiple calendars. One such tool is here:

Nope. Public folders can never be delivery locations.

There are third-party tools you can buy that will sync calendars. Start

I agree with Brian to use third party tools. With coworkers we use
third party tool for calendar sharing. We wanted to use Exchange, but
then started to search for Outlook plugins. This one we found is
relatively cheep. It is called Share Outlook Calendar. I even have a
