Opening powerpoint presentation in Vista

I use the Student version of Office, and my laptop runs Vista.

A colleague emailed a presentation to me. When I try to open it, I get an
error message telling me that Powerpoint can't open this presentation.

I've tried opening it on my desktop (identical Office package, but the PC
runs on XP) and it works fine.

Any ideas why I can't open this presentation on my laptop?

I'd be really grateful for any help. Thanks in advance.

Vista is an Operating System. It cannot open presentations. Maybe you need
to install the free Microsoft Compatibility Pack on the laptop additionally.
If only need to look at that file, you could download the free PowerPoint
2007 Viewer.

Best regards,

Office 2003 on both PCs?

On the laptop, do Help, Check for Updates. Let the updater have its way with
Office. That along may solve the problem.
