Weird problem we have here at work. People are being upgraded on their
laptops from Win2k/Office 2k to XP Pro/Office 2003. However when they try to
open files that were previously fine in 2000 with 2003 they get an error
message saying that part of the file is missing, however it can be opened
first time in the older version.

Anyone come across this?? our people here are tearing their hair out at the
thought of not being able to use their old presentations

This is a known problem with Office 2003. It was broken out of the box.
You must apply the service packs to Office. Once you have done that, your
problem will be solved.

XP is fully upto date with SP2, but office seems to be the default install.

You need to get *Office* up to SP2. On individual computers, you can choose Help,
Check for Updates and follow the bouncing ball from there. That'll probably take
you to SP3, just released recently.
