This is more of a curiosity message than anything else.

Just wondered if any of your technicians know if it is
possible to open the Powerpoint.exe file using an *.inf
(autorun) file.

If so, how???? I'm using Powerpoint 2000.

David.

Yes, an autorun.inf file can be used on any drive that is set to autoplay.
It is placed in the root directory and has the format:

[autorun]
open=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 2003\OFFICE11\POWERPNT.EXE
N:\ACDPC-Pro Test\Presentation1.ppt

In the above example,you can see that you have to provide the full path to
both PowerPoint and the presentation. It's not very feasible if you want to
use it on a CD, for example, because the files may not exist in those exact
paths. Therefore, from a CD you would be better off using the PowerPoint
Viewer, which can run from the CD and doesn't need to be installed on the
system.
