R Roger Whitehead Feb 13, 2004 #2 Sheets or Workbooks? If *Workbooks*, you may have the alternative startup location set in Tools, Options, General. In XL XP this is named: 'At Startup, open all files in:' - which is what it really means!

G Guest Feb 13, 2004 #5 I opened excel and hit esc and that stoped it. The problem is in the macros, I'm not familiar with them but I do have to learn. It said something about going into the hidden files, don't know where that is but I'll find it. Thank you for your help. David
