PPT 2002 (OfficeXP) running on XP Pro won't let me run
two concurrent PPT sessions.(as opposed to two open
presentations under one PPT session). I need to
seemlessly switch between two active presentations
without ending one show before starting the other.
(because that would project my groping around the desktop
before I can start the other show). I seem to be able to
run multiple windows of Excel, Word and other XP products
and switch between them using the task bar, but not with
Powerpoint. Any ideas ?

You are correct, PowerPoint will not run two instances of the program in
"edit" mode.

Is your computer capable of dual screen? This would hide your 'working
desktop' from the viewers, and allow you to switch between the projected
shows without notice from the audience.

Have you considered linking the shows together? This way one would run the
next, again without the audience being aware of the change.

Look at SundayStar add-in from
http://officerone.tripod.com/sundaystar/sundaystar.html - it enables you to
start upto 10 presentations simultaneously on the same monitor. It allows
you to seamlessly switch between those slide shows using keyboard shortcuts.
The settings can be stored in a file for later use. You can launch this file
directly from Windows without starting PowerPoint.
