When opening a window to use on desktop, it goes away when I go to open
another one. I'd like to work with multi windows open at the same time. How
do I do this?

If your Windows are Maximized the current Window will hide other Windows.
You should see entries in the task bar for the other open
windows/applications, click on the one you want to be on top.
Or you can use the Alt+Tab key to select.
Or don't open Windows as Maximized.

Surfside should also note that even if the windows aren't maximized, the new
one may cover the old, depending on size and position. Sometimes the
solution is as easy as resizing the windows, or dragging the top one off the
bottom one.
