Opening .mdb file without access

Could anyone share with me the steps one needs to take
using XP developer to make an access database a stand
alone apllication so it can run on a machine that doesn't
have access installed? It is to my understanidng that a
database designed with XP and exported with some sort of
developer function can then be opened and used for data
entry only on any machine that has an older version of
access or no version at all.

You still need Access to run an Access file. The developer version allows you to
distribute a setup routine that actually installs a stripped down version of Access
along with your file. This is not without pitfalls however. I would suggest a Google
search on "Access Runtime" to see what you might be up against.

It is best used on machines that do not have any other flavor of Access already on
them, but installs using additional script tools from SageKey are reported to solve
many of the issues.
 
You are correct. There is a package and deployment wizard
of some sorts that is prone to problems. To avoid these
problems I would recommend using Sagekey installation
scripts with Wise installer. I haven't had a single
problem with installations using these.
