I can't get a second hard drive to open by double clicking, no matter
what I try. I either xx click the short cut icon I created on the
desktop or xx click the drive letter in My Computer and nothing happens.
I have to right click one of those and then press "open"... Help please!!!

What option is set as default when you right-click?
Try downloading "Drive" Association Fix from here:

Thanx for the reply:

I get a drop down window with a number of options:
autoplay-search-open-system info-zip, etc

I went to ur site for the d/l of drive_fix.reg. and am afraid that as
a relative novice, I don't know how to proceed; what do I do with all
these entries?

Sorry to seem like a dummy, and I DO appreciate the help, but I need to
be led by the hand.
Cheers-Herb.

Once you've downloaded the REG file, double click it and answer yes to the import prompt. If you desire, you can right click the REG file and select Edit. This will open the file in Notepad, so you can see what's being changed.

autoplay-search-open-system info-zip, etc

* See if a file named autoplay.inf exists in the drive's root directory. And delete this file.
* Secondly, double-click the reg file as Doug said.
* If this does not help, are you using any drive emulation software?

I don't know how to find the root dir of my E Drive to look for autoplay.inf and can't find Doug's reg file.
I'm afraid these "helps" are way out of my area of knowledge and I can't
risk fixing something thats "working", altho' not to its best capabilities.
This Octogenarian just can't keep up with these advanced instructions
and unless led step by step has to leave well enuff alone. Thanx for the
effort tho'.
Cheers-Herb.
