When I traverse Windows Exployer and right click|Open a
folder, everything works as expected. However, if I
double left click on the folder (which also should open
the folder)the darn Search window pops up. This is a
problem that just started and I don't know what I did to
bring it on. What do I need to do??

Click [Start] [Run] and type "REGSVR32 /i SHELL32"

Thanks - I tried to respond to the above email address
but it came back undelivered. Your solution worked
perfectly. Now, what did I do to start this, and what
specifically does the fix do? Can you point me to a book
on the subject? Thanks again. Bud

Editing the 'File Folders' via "Folder Options" causes this error. Most users try to add the "Command Prompt Here" or any other context-menu entry using the dialog. Explained here: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=321186

Registering the Shell32 [as discovered by David Candy], puts the correct registry key back and resets hundreds of keys to factory defaults.

And Regsvr32 shell32 will not help. Need to call the /i [DllInstall function] regsvr32 /i shell32.
