I have Windows 2000 Professional and occasionally I
download clip art through my selections Microsoft Word
2000, Insert, Clip Art, and then Clips Online.

The Clip Art website in Microsoft has changed such that
now instead of downloading clips in .wmf files, I am
downloading them as .cil files. When I double click on
the image of the .cil file, I am taken to a Microsoft Word
document that is simply code or text of some kind. I
cannot read the document, and I cannot pull up the clip I
just downloaded from the Internet.

What should I do to open the Clip Art image and be able to
use it? I do not want to insert it in a Word document. I
just want the image to insert in a greeting software
program I recently purchased. I never had any problems
pulling up the images when the files were downloaded
as .wmf files.

Thanks for any assistance you can give me.

Hi K Stone,

I suggest that you read and perform the tips found in the Microsoft Clip Gallery Help
Chapter titled: Troubleshooting. And if that does not resolve the problem read the
following Web Page for troubleshooting information.

"Downloading clips, templates, and training with the ActiveX control Help Assistance"
http://office.microsoft.com/assistance/preview.aspx?AssetID=HP01034941&CTT=10

And if those troubleshooting tips do not help you resolve your problem I suggest that
you post in the appropriate newsgroup:

microsoft.public.design.gallery

Your newsgroup message header seems to indicate that you are posting to the Microsoft
Public Newsgroups using the Microsoft Communities Web Page. If I am correct, if you
click the first link below it will open your browser to the:

Microsoft Communities Newsgroups: microsoft.public.design.gallery
http://communities.microsoft.com/Newsgroups/default.asp?NewsGroup=microsoft.public.design.gallery

Alternatively, you can access the Clip Art Newsgroups Web Page by visiting the Clips
Online Web site and in the left-pane click the link "Read our newsgroup".

And if you read newsgroups using a NNTP newsreader such as Outlook Express, and use
the msnews.microsoft.com news server, here is a link:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.design.gallery

Also, please include information such as your Operating System Version, the version
of Microsoft Clip Gallery installed on your computer (or Office), and any
Troubleshooting steps that you have performed and the outcome.
