Opening .ape files

Hi. Dad has a file that he downloaded, but when he opens it, he gets
gibberish. It is obviously coded, and it has the .ape extension. I have
both iceows and 7-zip, but neither mention that extension. What is used to
open this, and can it be obtained free? TYIA.

Thank yu so much, Rod. Yes, Dad is feeling much better. He went for is
6-month tests on Wed, got the results on Thurs. He is still in remission.
No lumps, no bad guys in the bloodstream. Grumpy as He-pair of hockey
stics, but mostly because he downloads a bunch of crap via eMule, then he
can't open it. I googled for .ape after I posted, and we both downloaded it
onto our own computers, but now he is peeved at me because it still does not
work. I forwarded your response to him, so he can click the second link.
You saved my butt, I think.

Of course, it would have helped if we had Winamp installed! LOL. We do

One wonders why he downloaded it in the first place if he didn't know what
it was?

"What is this and why did I download it?" is a questions I have had to
ask myself more than once. ;)

This whole .ape-thing with your dad kind of reminds me of the times when I
explained on the telephone to my dad how to set the TV-channels, with my
mother handling the remote. frustrating and hilarious at the same time.
