What functionality is affected by opening an excel file in multilingual
versions?
For example are there any functions which do not work? (perhaps volatile
ones?)
does VBA code run on multilingual versions?
I have heard of global companies having problems with compatibilty, and want
to avoid them!
We are currently using Excel XP (2003) but clients may use different versions.

My experience is for Chinese version of Excel

For new versions, like XP,03 and 07.
There should be no much serious problem.
Most volatile function work as usual, VBA code do run on multilingual
versions but be aware for the date format that the local people might mix it,
especially older versions. VBA must be written in the way in US english and
some encoded text using other language will working fine.

It really depends on what application you are going to build and does it
involves local language features, otherwise, for general mathetical
functions, calculations. It will working fine.

Thanks for the reply. i'll use data validation for date inputs to try to
overcome any problems.

Thanks

Stephen

This is a good approach. Also, make the date with dd MMM yy is the best
rather than dd/mm/yy.
