Opening An Access Database Over A VPN Connection

Hello,
I have a user who can view our network from home using a sonicwall VPN
connection. We have a crm database on MS Access. But he cannot open it. He
gets an error message saying he must copy the database to his local hard
drive. But this obviously has synchronisation implications if there is more
than one copy of the database.

Can anyone please offer a work around!

Thanks in advance,
Brian.

Even if he could open it he would likely quickly corrupt it. Access cannot
be reliably run over a WAN connection. The highest quality WANs are still
worse than a pretty crappy LAN and less-than-perfect LANS give Access files
enough problems as it is.

The way to use Access over a WAN is to use Terminal Server or other remote
control software via your VPN so that all that is travelling over the wire
is screen updates and user keyboard/mouse inputs. Using that your user
would run a copy of MS Access that resides on a server on your LAN and would
not be using the copy he has installed locally at all.
