How do I open an Access application containing user security so I can make
changes in design mode? My password gives me admin authority.

I thought holding down the shift key when opening the application used to
allow me to do this but apparently not.

Thanks.

You enter your username/password, and then hold down the shiftkey while you
click on OK. Continue holding the shiftkey down until the database window
appears. Are you doing that?

Hi Joan,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I enter my user name and password, hold down the
shift key, and click on OK. I continue holding down the shift key until the
application opens. It opens no different from when I log on without holding
down the shift key--I am taken to the switchboard screen with no "design"
capabilities.

Regards,
Frank

The the shiftkey bypass has been disabled. You can try Albert Kallal's tool
to enable it again.
